I know it’s been a while since I’ve added any themes, sorry about that. But here is my latest addition. I’ve updated the css file with comments so you can easily find the tags you need to update if you wish to change the colors. The header image is a background image in the header div. The size of the div is 978×225. You can change the image but doing so will cover the chains on the left unless your new header image uses a transparent background. You can also resize the div that holds the blog title and description, as well as adjust it’s location by editing the header-wrap tag in the css. This way you can move it to fit your header image.
The Chains theme also uses 2 different header templates so the main blog will use the H1 tag for the blog title, H2 for the post titles and H3 for the sidebar titles. The single post template uses the second header file so the blog title is sized using css to appear as the H1 does. This opens the H1 tag to be used for the single post title giving the post title more keyword weight. So if you edit any of the css for the header, there are 2 places in the styles.css file to update. I have them commented so you will know what to edit.
